Review; Vega Summit II Fullface Modular Helmet
Recently, we got a chance to try the new Fullface Modular Helmet from Vega, the Summit II and man were we surprised.
- Comfort 4 stars
- Quality 4 stars (does not feel cheap, all mechanisms move and lock easily)
- Looks 3.5 stars (Although we love black would like to see more color choices)
- Price 5 stars (At around $150 it’s one of the most affordable Modular Helmets)
On the comfort portion we really only have one minor complaint, we wished it had better padding around the back of the neck.
Quality wise, it is very well made and feels like it will withstand everyday use well. All moving parts, from the front modular half to the visor, all move easily and feel sturdy. The button release for the modular half is easy to get to and operate, reversely it locks in place without much force and gives off a reassuring snap.
The vents work very well allowing air to flow into the helmet and eliminating fog. (we road on warm and cold days and did not fog up once)
Wind noise is also reduced, adding to the feeling of personal space, while ambient noise such as traffic, engine, and the like are still easily heard.
Peripheral vision is not compromised much at all, we felt aware of all aspects of the road. However, the angle of the chin guard did prevent us from just glancing down at our speed and other gauges. We got used to that though.
All in all, if you like the way your face looks, want to protect it the best you can, and don’t want to break the bank the could be a perfect fit.
