The 1960’s Lombard Centaur; Scoot home a drunk Industries dream.
Our friends over at sent this to us a last week, and we thank them. Cheers Mates! Check out their site it’s pure eye candy.
This is the Lombard Industries Centaur, a folding scooter that was designed by James Wilford Foster, Lambretta’s US importer out of NYC, and manufactured by American Motor Scooter Corporation. At around 50lb. it could be folded up and carried anywhere.
A 1962 sale flier boasts:
“CENTAUR is the PORTABLE transportation long sought after by Boat Owners, Fliers, Trailer Owners, Sportsmen, College Students, Campers, Businessmen…not only for their special interest, but for year ’round fun for every member of the family.”
We think it’s perfect for the Scoot home a drunk industries like, London’s Scooter Man, Louisville’s City Scooters, or even the non scooter riding Scooter Patrol. Come to think of it, those others are more like Minibikes really, and much more labor intensive to break down. Just look at the trouble “Captain Slow” James May had with his at the above link.
