"The Commitments", 1990?, a movie based on a Roddy Doyle novel about lower class Dublin kids who put together an Irish R & B band. The band's middle aged mentor, who plays sax I believe, rides an obscure, under 150 cc scooter throughout the movie.

Last night I watched the guy Ritchie film RockNRolla and was pleasantly surprised to see two of the main characters in the movie get away from the "bad guys" by way of a scooter. Great scene. Too bad the scooter wasn't a Vespa though.

Here are some more movies I've seen over the last several months: Penelope (a 2006? movie w/ Cristina Ricci & Reeses Witherspoon), Lizzy McGuire Movie (about 20 min's in), Desperately Seeking Susan w/some guy giving a girl a ride - I think it was Rosanne Arquette (I'm pretty sure about that one - it was late and I was really tired), Quantom of Solace (blue Vespa is sitting parked all by itself on a street in Italy), and Raising Helen starring Helen Hunt - there is no scooter scene per se but there is verbiage about Vespas about 30 min's in (a pastor asks Helen what a vesper is, regarding the church in his meaning, and she, not knowing the correct answer, replies "a kind of scooter?"). Hope some of these are helpful.

Pulled out some of my old videotapes to watch and came across Repo Man (1984)starring Emilio Estevez. Totally forgot that The Untouchables were featured riding their scooters in a street scene in the movie and, after arriving and parking outside their house, beat up Emilio after he tried to repo a car. Unfortunately, none of The Untouchables' music was featured on the soundtrack. Luckily, there is a youtube video showing this exact scooter/beat up scene. In case you don't already know about it go to youtube and type in these words: The Untouchables in 'Repo Man'

Just watched a movie called Bottle Shock, starring Bill Pullman and the English actor that plays Professor Snape in Harry Potter, and it has a scooter scene in it just 4 minutes into the movie, with an outside shot of 2 Vespas (one red and one green) parked on a sidewalk outside a wine shop in France. Better yet, 12 minutes into the movie there is a scene outside that same shop where the English actor, accompanied by an American, walk out of the wine shop and into the middle of the street and a man on a red Vespa rides by and toots his horn at them. That red scooter must be the one that is on the sidewalk earlier because when the two men are in the street there is only a green Vespa parked on the sidewalk (with a man just sitting on it).

I really didn't think I would be writing again so soon, but I'm at home recuperating from minor surgery, so I've been watching movies. Anyway, I just watched Bangcock Dangerous starring Nicholas Cage, and while there are several minor scenes of scooter riders in the early part of the movie, the best scene is of Cage's protoge' strapping a briefcase to his scooter/moped(with pedals), then riding it down the street, only to be knocked off of it by street thugs. This all happens at 27:53 to 28:08 in the movie. Chapter 8 scene selection. Hope it helps.
