Movies with Scooters

I’ve been wanting to put this together for a while now, and have come to the happy realization that there are a lot of great movies out there with scooter of all flavors in them.  Here is my first installment of “Movies with Scooters”, if you know of a good movie with scooters in it no matter how small the part send them my way and I’ll work them into future montages. Hope you like it.

Special thanks to the Santa Monica Scooter Club for their great list which inspired my idea.

Pulled out some of my old videotapes to watch and came across Repo Man (1984)starring Emilio Estevez. Totally forgot that The Untouchables were featured riding their scooters in a street scene in the movie and, after arriving and parking outside their house, beat up Emilio after he tried to repo a car. Unfortunately, none of The Untouchables' music was featured on the soundtrack. Luckily, there is a youtube video showing this exact scooter/beat up scene. In case you don't already know about it go to youtube and type in these words: The Untouchables in 'Repo Man'

Just watched a movie called Bottle Shock, starring Bill Pullman and the English actor that plays Professor Snape in Harry Potter, and it has a scooter scene in it just 4 minutes into the movie, with an outside shot of 2 Vespas (one red and one green) parked on a sidewalk outside a wine shop in France. Better yet, 12 minutes into the movie there is a scene outside that same shop where the English actor, accompanied by an American, walk out of the wine shop and into the middle of the street and a man on a red Vespa rides by and toots his horn at them. That red scooter must be the one that is on the sidewalk earlier because when the two men are in the street there is only a green Vespa parked on the sidewalk (with a man just sitting on it).

I really didn't think I would be writing again so soon, but I'm at home recuperating from minor surgery, so I've been watching movies. Anyway, I just watched Bangcock Dangerous starring Nicholas Cage, and while there are several minor scenes of scooter riders in the early part of the movie, the best scene is of Cage's protoge' strapping a briefcase to his scooter/moped(with pedals), then riding it down the street, only to be knocked off of it by street thugs. This all happens at 27:53 to 28:08 in the movie. Chapter 8 scene selection. Hope it helps.
  • Thanks Again Macscoot! We hear there is a pretty good scooter scene in Atlanta.

I've added these to the list.

Your welcome for the tips. I hope there were a few that you didn't know about. Your videos are great! I have another list of movies that I hope might help: 1.) "Caro Diario" - a 1993 Italian movie I saw featuring really good footage of a guy riding a Vespa in Rome throughout most of the movie. 2.) "La Dulce Vita" - a 1960 Italian movie that my mother told me about with scooters in it. 3.) "Under the Tuscsan Sun" - a 2003 movie my wife saw, starring Diane Lane, with a scooter scene. 4.) "The Wedding Planner" - I'm sure you knew about this already - 2001 movie starring J-Lo and Matthew McConaughey with a scooter scene at the end of the movie where Matthew and another dude ride through San Francisco on a red Vespa. Can't wait to see your next videos this winter! BTW, even though I live in Atlanta I know Chicago pretty well - I grew up in Evanston, Mt. Prospect, and Wheeling.
  • MacScoot Thanks for the Tips! We always welcome them.

We have started gathering footage for episode 4, 5, and 6 to be released this winter.

Have more movies with scooters: 1.) "The Ex" with Zach Braff and Jason Bateman - at the very end of the movie when Jason Bateman tries to enter but gets carried out of the ad agency in Barcelona, Spain, you can see a scooter parked in between two cars outside the agency. 2.) "George of the Jungle" with Brendan Fraser - about 15 minutes left in the movie - when Fraser aka George arrives back in Afica in a crate and he puts on some sneakers to run back to the jungle, the camera pans out and you will see a local villager riding by on a scooter. 3.) "Bean" the movie - not a 100% on this one - I don't own it or want to rent it again, but I believe that near the end of the movie, when Bean is back in Manaco, I think, there is a shot of someone riding a scooter down the road.

Just saw a movie this morning with a scooter in it. It's a British movie called "I'll Be There" - starring the famous Welsh singer, Charlotte Church, who rides a pink Vespa several times in the movie. The other star in the movie is the Scottish comic, Graig Ferguson.
  • Here are a few movies with scooters that I've seen lately: 1)The Cake Eaters; 2)I Love You, Man; 3)Yes, Man (no surprise on that last one, I'm sure!)
